Volunteer Site Maintenance

The Riviere Towans site is large (over 40 acres) and takes a lot of maintenance to keep it well managed with a balance between the environment, nature & the overall appearance of the site. This year, following approaches from owners, Simon our grounds manager instigated a scheme allowing owners to help manage the site. See the sign up form under the Members section or contact the office for more information .

White Agapanthus

Operation Sea Buckthorn

Whilst Sea Buckthorn looks pretty, the whole of the Hayle Towans area has become overrun by this species, which is considered a non-native invasive plant outside of the east of England. Our grounds team have been gradually reducing the presence of Sea Buckthorn on site, allowing other local South West native plants to thrive.

Bee Keeping

This year a new project was started, introducing two beehives onto site (in a location away from chalets). These will hopefully give a safe home to honeybees and increase the number of useful pollinators in the area.

Plus, all being well, produce our own honey, which will be sold to help cover the management costs and go towards other projects.
