Welcome to the first edition of my monthly blog — a new way to keep you informed and
connected with everything happening across our community. Apologies for this being half way through the month, I will look at getting this out in a more timely manner next time. Each month, I’ll share key updates, milestones, and a few behind-the-scenes moments from the previous month and update you on what is forthcoming. Here’s what’s been happening as we head into spring:
Finance
Member subscription invoices have now been sent out, with an expected income of around
£217,000 by the end of May. Thanks to those members who have already paid, it certainly helps with the cashflow.
With the main source of our income starting to roll in we are exploring opportunities to move funds into High Interest savings accounts — making sure our money is working smarter for us.
All Commercial Centralised Waste Services invoices have now been fully settled — a great
step forward.
Health and Safety
With H&S always in the forefront of our minds, we have installed two sets of speed ramps near D48 Playground to improve the safety of those using these facilities on-site sand you will no doubt have seen that in line with a recent communication from me that the playground fencing has been removed, and the areas have been made good.
For reference our next annual playground safety audit is scheduled for November 2025.
On a personal note: I experienced an accident on-site, resulting in a broken finger — but happy to report it is healing nicely!
Roads and Maintenance
A temporary road repair was completed on the track into A block by the former Bus Turning Point area. The problem was caused in the main by Buckthorn roots emerging through the road surface. We are looking at a more permanent solution moving forward.
Local maintenance continues in-house, and we’ll soon be reaching out to DA Giles for quotes on the larger repairs that will take place in the closed season later this year.
Waste Management
Some questions have been raised by Members around the central waste compounds.
You will find more details on this in the latest Board communication emailed out to all members and further discussions will be held at the May Board meeting
On a related note we are also reconfirming our compliance with the Environment Agency, just to ensure clarity moving forward.
Planning
All approved developments are on track so please have a look at the planning application
page for full details PLANNING APPLICATIONS | Riviere Towans
We are looking to launch updated Planning Procedures before the next wave of applications
start to be submitted for the next closed season.
Site in General
With the weather picking up of late, Simon has started on his Grass Cutting regime for this
open season. Remember if you want to volunteer around the site, Simon will welcome
additional help. Just drop us a line if you’re interested.
As you may have heard by now we have been informed that First will not be using our land as a bus turning point this year. The area has now been blocked off to prevent illegal parking, and no bus services will come through this season. The Board will be looking at how this area could be used in the future.
Something Sweet to End On…
We’re excited to announce the arrival of BEES on-site — now under the care of Simon! If
you love local honey, get your orders in now and support our buzzing new residents.
In Summary we’re proud of the progress we’re making and grateful for your continued support and engagement. If you have any questions, feedback, or just want to say hello — feel free to reach out. Hope you enjoy the Easter weekend
